Our 150th Anniversary year got off to a rousing start on Sunday 21st January, as the Thirsk Royal British Legion Band led our Songs of Praise helping us to look back over our heritage and gave thanks for all that has been. The service included two hymns that were written by a previous vicar of St John’s, The Rev’d Sabine Baring-Gould – ‘Onward, Christian Soldiers’, and ‘Now the day is over’. Thanks to those of you who braved some very inclement weather to get there. It was good to be joined by a cross-section of members of the community and representatives of the other churches in the benefice.
The next event is a
to be held in the Village Hall
on Tuesday 13th February
